Vibrant purple in color. Good aromatic range on the nose, starting with notes of blackcurrant, and raspberry then developing to Havana cigar, mocha and a very subtle hint of graphite. Smooth on the palate, underlined by silky tannins and an extremely long, elegant finish.

91 pts - Wine Enthusiast: CELLAR SELECTION “Big and bold, this new-wood-aged wine is developing well. With mint aromas, coffee and toast on the palate and ripe blackberry fruits, it has a good future. It’s dense, solid and dark in character at this stage.”
91 pts - KensWineGuide.com: VERY GOOD+ “This dark red colored Merlot from Saint Emilion is very good. It opens with a very fragrant ripe strawberry with a hint of rose and craisin. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, nicely balanced, smooth and shows quite a bit of structure for a Merlot. The flavor profile is a gentle mineral influenced mild strawberry and cherry blend with a hint of cedar and touch of pomegranate and wintermint. The finish is dry and its flavors and moderate tannins stick around for a little while. This Merlot is food friendly and would pair well with captains cut prime rib.”
90 pts - Wine & Spirits: “Martin Krajewski, the British businessman who recently sold Chateau de Sours to Jack Ma of Alibaba, purchased this four-acre property in 2006 and has since expanded it to 15 acres. Clos Cantenac comes from the original parcel, all merlot, its savory red fruit killed by oak’s sweet caramel and baking spice scents. Light, peppery and sleek, it’s ready to drink with filet mignon.”
