A study in terrior in one word: Flood. A vibrant purple, there’s a black fruit thrust to the aroma, adorned by a touch of star anise and cola. The flavors are more demonstrative - dark and blue, rippling, pure, saturating, they reach the edge of your mouth the way color reaches the edge of the glass. In its texture the wine is at its most seductive, the purity of fruit held in place by a skidding, gravelly grip.

94 pts - Robert Parker Wine Advocate: “Medium to deep ruby-purple, the 2016 The Flood opens with a gorgeous perfume of rose petals, crushed rocks and fresh tobacco over a core of crushed blueberries, blackberries and blackcurrants with some exotic spices coming through. Medium-bodied and very sexy in the mouth, with silky tannins and layers of black and blue fruits, it's got tons of floral perfume plus notions of forest floor and dried mushroom, with an amazingly long finish. Wow! This drinks well now but will be even better with another few years in bottle.”
93 pts - Vinous: “Deep shimmering red. Pungent, spice-accented cherry cola and black raspberry aromas are complemented by suggestions of licorice, mocha and candied flowers. Nicely concentrated but energetic as well, offering intense red and dark berry, succulent herb and violet pastille flavors supported by a spine of juicy acidity. Shows excellent clarity and mineral drive on the impressively long finish, which is framed by smooth, steadily building tannins.”
92 pts - Kens Wine Guide: “This dark ruby colored Pinot Noir from Chapter 24 really impressed our mini-tasting group. It opens with a spent gun-powder and plum bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and savory. The flavor profile a tasty plum and cedar plank blend with notes of cherry-cola. We also detected hints of minerality and coffee. The finish is dry and its flavors and moderate tannins are nicely prolonged. Our group thought this gem would pair well with a Colorado lamb chop.”
91 pts - Wine Spectator: “Tightly focused, with deep, slightly brooding blueberry and green tea flavors that persist toward polished tannins.”
