93 pts - Wine Spectator: "Shows an air of elegance to the wild blueberry and blackberry flavors. Despite the intensity and muscular structure, the flavors stand up to the tannins, mingling effortlessly with Earl Grey tea, vanilla and clove accents. A touch of fresh loam lingers in the background."
92 pts - Wine Enthusiast: "This is the label of Emily McNally, who’s family owns the renowned Jasper Hill winery. Grown in granite soils, this is a hearty yet harmonious Victoria Shiraz. A tang of red fruit and plums is under-laid with soft tones of flowers, mocha, bay leaf and Christmas spices. Muscular yet fine-grained, textural tannins are juxtaposed with a lift of acidity. Oak is neatly tucked away. One has to do a double take to realize the 15.5% alcohol, since it’s far from obvious."
90 pts - Robert Parker Wine Advocate: "Always a big, lusty wine with overtones of chocolate and spice, the 2017 Shiraz fits that stylistic mold to a T. Aromas of dark chocolate, cinnamon, plums and raspberries appear on the nose, while the full-bodied palate is plush and ripe, with just enough tannin to hold things together before easing into a soft, cocoa-powder finish. There's a touch of warmth here, so catch it while it's young."
