The nose shows lifted aromas of red fruits, rose petals and dried herbs enhanced by cinnamon and earth. The palate is medium bodied with bright and fleshy layers of raspberry, redcurrant and darker fruit edges. Supple, classy tannins lead to a soft-textured and elegant finish.

94 pts - Halliday Wine Companion: “A 51/32/17% blend, the components sourced from various districts that produce high quality fruit. Standard vinification, then matured for 15 months with 10% new French hogshead, the remainder 3-6yo barrels. It’s a powerful wine in the context of ‘17, old vines doing what they have done for the last 50+ years.”
94 pts - Wine Spectator: “Vibrant, with blackberry, blueberry and spiced plum flavors that are fresh, plump and generous at the core.
Impressively elegant and seamless, featuring notes of fresh earth, spice and floral that linger
effortlessly alongside fine-grained tannins.”
92 pts - James Suckling: “This has richness that drives from the shiraz corner with fragrant, grenache red fruit and a deep tone at the finish, thanks to mourvedre’s blue fruit. A well crafted blend of shiraz, grenache and mourvedre.”
90 pts - Robert Parker Wine Advocate: “A blend of 51% Shiraz, 32% Grenache and 17% Mourvèdre, Duval's 2017 Plexus is marked by 15 months in French oak. Scents of mocha, cedar and caramel join hints of cherries and
spice on the nose, while the medium to full-bodied palate is smooth and supple, finishing harmonious and long.”
