The wine expresses standout primary aromas of yellow fruits and citrus zest followed by meringue, nougat and lemon verbena notes. The palate is fruit-driven and balanced while also light on its feet. The pronounced meyer lemon and bosc pear characters are sustained by a vibrant acidity through the long finish.

90 pts - Vinous: "Limpid gold. Melon, nectarine, tangerine and honey on the nose, with a floral nuance emerging as the wine opens up. Juicy and seamless in texture, offering fresh citrus fruit and honeydew flavors that are firmed by a suggestion of peach pit on the back half. Seamless and open-knit, showing a touch of vanilla on the subtly smoky finish, which features a discreet floral note.
90 pts - Editors' Choice - Wine Enthusiast: "Choice A good choice in an affordable Oregon Chardonnay, this young wine matches baked apple and pear fruit to a highlight of caramel. There's a buttery character alongside a slight hint of mint.”
90 pts - Robert Parker Wine Advocate: "The 2018 Straight Shooter Chardonnay has fresh scents of poached pears, quince peel and white peach with touches of baker’s yeast, stone and a very pretty floral undercurrent. The palate is light to medium-bodied, fresh and lively with good concentration and a long, lifted finish. This is well made and a great value."
88 pts - Wine Spectator: "Fresh and easygoing with modest apple and lemon flavors."
88 pts - JamesSuckling.com: “This has a strong, sweet-wood overlay, across peach and apricot aromas. The palate follows suit with very assertive oak.”
